How to get On Air All the Time,

Oh the irony of me posting this. Read on…
Patrick Gavin who blogs at FishbowlDC and writes an insanely clever gossip column for the Washington Examiner has the cover story in this month’s Politics Magazine.
The piece is titled, “How to Get On-Air, All the Time,” and offers tips and pointers from folks who are pretty good at getting quoted and staying relevant.
Given this partial list of press hits I’ve acquired over the past few years, you guessed correctly: Patrick interviewed me for the story and I’m quoted throughout.
Example A:
“I’ve been accused of being a self-promoter,” says David All. “But, frankly, it takes a whole lot of jumping up and down and screaming at the top of your lungs to get anyone to notice.” A former congressional staffer, All left the Hill in 2007 to start his own consulting firm and launch www.TechRepublican.com (a site dedicated to helping conservatives utilize Internet technology and opportunities) and Slatecard, a Republican PAC. All that “screaming” has earned him several appearances on ABC News Now as well as mentions in the Washington Post, New York Times, NPR.org, CNN’s The Situation Room and The Washington Times, not to mention a nod in this magazine’s June issue as a “Rising Star.”
Howard Mortman agrees with All’s approach. “You have to have no shame whatsoever,” he says. “You have to be your own huckster out there. … It’s the people who make the constant calls about themselves who are, for better or worse, going to get picked. Lacking shame is the first key to all of this.”
Example B:
At the end of the day, you have to utilize a pitching strategy that sits well with you and your personality, if only because your intended audience will be able to see if you’re forcing a square peg into a round hole. In fact, given that your pitching strategy says a lot about who you are, it’s yet another opportunity to separate yourself from the crowd. David All is David All, whether you think he’s a self-promoter or not, and some outlets will be attracted to his energy and confidence.
I’m just honored / pleased to have something worth promoting.
