Maine buzzing 06/04/08
I was quoted in a piece yesterday on the intersection of technology + politics written by Jonathan Kaplan in the Portland Press Herald (Maine).
Regarding a candidate’s Facebook effort:
“What you are trying to do is lower the barriers of entry to your campaign to the lowest level,” said David All, a former Republican congressional aide turned Internet campaign consultant. “It’s cost-effective and yields a good return on investment.”
Whether the Internet should replace all other campaign strategies/mediums/techniques:
The campaigns still send out press releases, the candidates still attend fundraisers with well-heeled donors and their supporters still knock on doors.
“The Internet is not going to be the only campaign you can run, but it’s new, the add-on you need to do,” All said.
For now, at least.
