Apple Pies and Pizza Pies

Slatecard: Pies and Pizza Pies,
originally uploaded by DavidAll06.

Per usual, Slatecard.com co-founder Sendhil Panchadsaram and I had an IM conversation today. IM has been our primary form of communication for the past year+ building Slatecard.
Today, I walked into the office from lunch and saw a package of goodies on my seat.
Sendhil had shipped apple pies [...]

Sneaker,

Love your thoughts on these pics taken last night on my route from Tysons Corner via Metro Bus, Metro Rail, and walking. I hate NOVA. I’ve also included one shot of DAGger Nicola.

Firefox 3 and Photo Drop

Two of my favorite things which live on both of my Mac’s (and should be on yours):

Firefox Internet Browser 3 (see the Internet how it was meant to be seen)

Photo Drop (an excellent photo imaging widget for Mac OSX)

soon, teaching a puppy to say “McCain”

For those following my search for Pollock the pup (a puppy I’ll name Pollock), I’m thinking of a Boston Terrier.
A good friend of mine who you may remember from our National Journal profile, Itching for Change, Justin Hamilton, just taught his dog, El Guapo, to say “Obama.”

back in DC with some new skills

Actually, the bus and then metro turned out to be interesting.
I must have taken at least 100 shots having fun with different settings and testing whether people cared if I clearly took a pic of them. No one said a word or even changed their expression.
This is going to be such a rad hobby. I’ll [...]

hating Virginià

Ducked out of the camera class because it was pretty worthless having an entirely different type of camera. Thanks Ritz salesman, I’ll be asking for a refund.
So I was stranded near Tysons Corner at some ridiculous hotel where cabs apparantly don’t service.
So I crossed some crazy busy street to ask a few guys at [...]

photography class

Metroed out to Tysons Corner tonight for my first photography class on how to technically use my Nikon D300.
The course is actually for the D80 but I’ll at least get some of the basics of my cam down.
Did I mention that when I set my mind to something – like a hobby – [...]

a good day

As my mom reminded me this morning, today is Tim Russert’s funeral. What a giant he was and will continue to be as he takes his place among other legends in the Newseum on Penn.
My favorite MTP was when Russert had the founder of DailyKos.com Markos Moulitsas (sorry if I misspelled that, never know how [...]

also a fan of McCain Bloggette

I was just perusing the latest Ticker items on Slatecard to see who was giving where and for what reason (I’m a voyeur), and I saw this shout-out to Meghan McCain, a.k.a. the McCain Bloggette:
John McCain (President) has received the Drill Here. Drill Now. badge from Fan of McCainbloggette.com through Slatecard.com Picks
Last November I caught [...]

The Mac listens

Great little McCain nugget regarding the Internet reported by Jonathan Martin:
“As the father of young men and women ranging from 16 to 23, I understand from them not only their issues but how important and vital a role the Internet plays,” McCain said.
And he offered a tip of the cap to his rival.
“I congratulate Sen. Obama for [...]

Last night I watched the PBS documentary, Andy Warhol (American Masters). Mark another off the NetFlix queue.
About half way through, I had to stop and skip back a few frames to write down a quote that I want to start highlighting in the Republican politics  + tech space as it relates to things like “new [...]

Breaking up

Last week I ordered my MacBook Air from Apple via standard shipping (no real rush, right?). The problem is that half of my order – the accessories – arrived two short days later. Further, the computer was expected to arrive that same day.
When it didn’t get delivered, I understood.
But then it didn’t show up again. [...]

international buzz(ing)

I help wrap-up this Reuters story on how the Internet continues to change politics:
David All, a 29-year-old Republican communications consultant who launched the realworldrepublicans.com website this weekend, said his party needed to embrace new technologies.
The Republican Party risks losing an entire generation of voters because they aren’t investing in new media like text messaging, All [...]

Met a really interesting guy on the flight back. We ended up chatting about photography and how to take better pics with the Canon Elph.
His recommendation for acquiring a digital SLR was to go with a Nikon and chat with the salesmen at Ritz to make sure I’m getting the right lenses and accessories. [...]

Typical. I do a cannoball in the pool at Palazzo and a few girls get upset.
Had to buy her a Margarita to make up. Apparently they don’t say thanks when they’re from San Diego.
