the end of a busy day

After a week away from the office on work travel, it’s been good to have a day back in the office. I was able to catch up on some bills/invoicing, begin the process of picking out some new furniture for DAG (needed because we’re bringing on an awesome new teammate July 7), and plan out [...]

Pixel Session 7 – Adams Morgan/Logan Circle

Spent the day brunching with friends at Bourbon in Adams Morgan, shopping at some of my favorite local boutiques, and exploring two of my favorite neighborhoods in DC: Adams Morgan and Logan Circle (my ‘hood).
You can view the full set of photos here with a random sample below.

Stopped in to one of my favorite local music stores, Crooked Beat, located in Adams Morgan.
Picked up three new CDs (yes, I actually bought the CDs to help support Crooked Beat):

Death Cab For Cutie “Narrow Stairs”
Deerhoof “Apple O’”
Do Make Say Think “& Yet & Yet”

Just finished listening to death cab and moving quickly to do [...]

a “me” day

I’ve been on the road so much this past week I haven’t had a chance to catch up on some things around the sweet pad, e.g., organize my closet, throw out some boxes I no longer need along with those horrible metal hangars that the dry cleaner gives me, juice up my iPod, write a blog [...]

ZipCar

I just made my first reservation for a ZipCar — picking it up at 10:30 AM about 1/4 block from my pad in Logan Circle. Convenience.
Indeed, wheels when I want them.

O’Hare

En route to the airport to head back to our beautiful, hot, sticky and moist Washington, DC.
Chicago is definitely one of my new favorite cities. Based on the architecture alone, I’m pretty sure I could live there someday.
Highlights:
-Two great Pixel Sessions.
-Seeing other Cubs fans.
-Very Midwest feel.
-Italian Beef and authentic cheesecake (Taste of Chicago).
-The [...]

So cool to meet up with Robert Scoble (on twitter, Scobleizer) the past few days in New York and Washington, DC.
I’m a huge fan of his constant work and was glad to finally meet him in “real” life. I expect we’ll be seeing more of each other as he continues to [...]

Starved. I hear an Italian Beef sandwich is the way to go.
Anyone out there live in Chicago?

The Wire: season 1, disc 1, episode 1

Before I pack for Chicago, I’m going to eat some delish Chinese food from Meiwah and enjoy the latest Netflix delivered goody, “The Wire: Season 1, Disc 1, episode 1.”
I’ve never seen it but couldn’t resist giving it a shot after my friend @WilliamBeutler twittered about it day after day. Piling up on that was [...]

Running for President

As reported, I’m in for President of the United States of America.
Though I’m only 29 and the “Constitution” may exclude me from running, I’m still throwing my name in to the ring.
My number one priority: Internet for Everyone. Natch.
Are you with me?
[Indeed, a clever prank played on me by my good friend David Almacy.]

Pixel Session 5 – Lunch in NYC

Yesterday on our final day at the PDF conference in NYC we simply couldn’t “do” another brown bag lunch. Nothing wrong with the lunch specifically, I was just really in the mood for something unique and better.
So we ended up taking a walk down Broadway. Young Joe used mobile yelp to find a restaurant with [...]

Who among us thanks those who tirelessly clean up our mess on the streets?
I spotted this guy while crossing Broadway near E. 62nd.
I didn’t stop to take the pic which explains a bit of the blur but not bad since we were both on the move.
Thanks guy.

I’m sitting at lunch in NYC looking for interesting subjects and in walks this old(ish) couple.
I ask the man, “Can I take your picture?”
His wife answered, “No thank you, we’re fine.”
He looks over, smiles this great grin, and says “Go ahead.” I knew the moment he saw me that he [...]

InternetforEveryone.org

Regarding that press conference I was participating in today, it was to help announce InternetforEveryone.org, a bipartisan coalition working to help ensure 100% access and availability to a high-speed Internet connection. Sadly, more than 50% of Americans don’t have access to a high-speed connection which are predominately rural/Appalachian (Republican) Americans. That’s more than 10M households.
This [...]

Just hold the camera out.
Huddle around.
Smile.

I’ve noticed that some of the happiest people I see/meet in New York are the bicycle cabbies. They love their job and it’s evident.
Unlike Washington, DC where every cabbie is either (1) talking on his cell phone (lame bluetooth headset of course) or, (2) listening to NPR (they’re always [...]
